Ramdoot Shri Hanuman Ji was delighted and pleased with the great devotion of Siddhpurush Shri Mohandas Ji Maharaj and so in the year 1755, (vikrami shravan shukla navami) Saturday, in Asota village, he appeared in the form of an idol and fulfilled the desire of his devotee in Salasar. In the year 1759, he built the temple and assigned the service of the temple to his disciple Shri Udairam Ji and his descendants. He then went into Samadhi for the last time. (He consciously left his body).
Salasar village is situated at the eastern outskirts of Sujangarh tehsil, of Churu district in Rajasthan state. In instantaneous time, Salasar village was under the territory of the Bikaner province, where Pt. Sukhram Ji used to live. His wife’s name was Kanhibai. She was the daughter of Pt. Lacchiram Ji, of Rulyani village, Sikar district. She was the only sister among her 6 brothers. Pt. Sukhram Ji and Kanhibai had a son, Udairam. Udairam’s father died when he was 5yrs old.
Hanuman Bhakt Shree Mohandas Ji Maharaj appointed his nephew Udayaram ji as the first priest of the temple by entrusting the service of Shri Balaji Maharaj. Before taking the samadhi, Bhakt Shree Mohandas ji Maharaj offered a prayer to Shri Balaji asked blessings for sister Kanhi's son Udayaram Ji and his descendants to continue worship and attaining long life while following Grasath Jeevan. After that, on the morning of Vaishakh Shukla Triyodashi on (1850), devotee Shiromani Mohandas ji Maharaj took Jeevit samadhi.
Morning aarti, bhog and worship is performed at the Samadhi Sthal of Bhakt Mohandas ji Maharaj and his sister Kanhi Dadi Ji . Similarly, before the evening aarti, the brother-sister Samadhi is worshiped, followed by the aarti of Shri Balaji Maharaj.
Other than the annual fairs held at the Salasar Balaji Mandir, several other interesting religious practices are also observed in Salasar Dham. A few of these include Savamani or offering food up to 50 kilograms in weight to the deity, tying of coconuts in the temple premises using moli (scared thread, red in color) , singing artis, reciting bhajans, kirtans and Ramayana.
Prasad is a material substance of food that is a religious offering but for devotees it is more than just food, it is a substance which holds a lot of religious and spiritual sentiments.
